Introduction

Initiated on New Year's Eve in 1965 and methodically pursued until 1971, the project stemmed from a fortuitous encounter between the Genoese photographer and the community of transvestites (a term historically used at the time and retained by the author, today understood within the spectrum of transgender identity and cross-dressing) living and working in the former Jewish ghetto in the historic center of Genoa.
