It comes from a simple question:
Is it still possible to truly understand an image, in an age when they pass by without being read?
Photography is everywhere today, but it is rarely looked at carefully.
Images wear out quickly, losing their context, their meaning, their depth.
This project was born to reverse this trend.
LEGGERE la fotografia
It is an authorial and curatorial archive dedicated to photography as an artistic, historical, cultural, and economic medium. A place where photography is not simply displayed, but interpreted.

The archive is constantly evolving and is expanded daily through the publication of new entries dedicated to photographic works and photographers, from great historic authors to the most interesting voices in contemporary photography.

The entries analyze the visual language, the historical and cultural context, the author's production, the relationships with other photographers and aspects related to collecting and the market, offering in-depth tools aimed at scholars, professionals, collectors and enthusiasts.

Every day, a complete entry is made available to everyone free of charge, in the belief that culture should remain accessible to as many people as possible.

All content is available in Italian, English, French, and Spanish, with translations adapted to different cultural and linguistic contexts.

The goal is not to provide definitive answers, but to offer tools to develop a more informed perspective.

A journey that invites us to slow down, to observe carefully, to grasp the relationships between images, contexts, and visions.

Because understanding a photograph also means understanding the time in which it was taken and, in part, our own.
