Introduction
Madeleine de Sinéty represents one of the most singular, tenacious, and unjustly overlooked figures in the history of 20th-century documentary photography. A Franco-American artist with a late but overwhelming calling, de Sinéty spent her life evading the limelight of the art world to immerse herself totally and viscerally in the lives of the subjects she chose to portray.
