Introduction

His figure is inextricably linked to one of the most fertile periods of the European avant-garde: the Bauhaus experiment. However, restricting the examination of his work to his pedagogy or his painting would be a historiographical oversight; László Moholy-Nagy redefined the very ontology of the photographic medium. He liberated photography from its purely reproductive and documentary function, elevating it to an instrument of pure luminous expression.
