Introduction
Taken by the celebrated American photographer Imogen Cunningham, the image captures the pioneer of American modern dance, Martha Graham, in a masterful double exposure. Born from an encounter during a dinner party in Santa Barbara, California, this photographic session generated a body of ninety negatives on Graflex film, two of which were promptly chosen for publication by the prestigious Vanity Fair magazine in December of the same year.
