Introduction

The image depicts a glass goldfish bowl containing a single dark fish, resting on a stone wall overlooking the spectacular volcanic caldera of the Aegean Sea. Bathed in the crepuscular (or dawn) light that traces a silver path on the water toward the horizon, the microcosm of the bowl is set in dramatic contrast against the macrocosm of the open sea.
