Chema Madoz

Introduction

The artwork in question, colloquially known as "Copa Nota" (Cup Note) and belonging to the extensive and rigorous output of Chema Madoz, represents one of the zeniths of contemporary European conceptual photography. Through a strict and ascetic black-and-white aesthetic, the Madrid-born artist strips everyday objects of their utilitarian function, transfiguring them into an unprecedented poetic alphabet.
